Guidelines for isolation at home to prevent COVID-19 were announced by the Ministry of Health

With the current rapidly increasing number of COVID-19 positive patients, close contacts of confirmed cases; Persons subject to concentrated isolation who test negative for COVID-19 and other subjects under the direction of the Prime Minister or the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control are required to self-isolate. stay at home to protect the health of family and community.

Faced with that situation, the Ministry of Health has issued Decision No. 879/QD-BYT dated March 12, 2020 guiding medical isolation at home and accommodation to prevent COVID-19 epidemic. The above information is posted on the Corona Virus Shield page.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health recommends that the above groups of subjects need to self-isolate for 14 days from the date of last contact with a suspected source of infection at home, preferably have a separate room. The bed of the quarantined person should be at least 2m away from the bed of other members and away from the common living area.

The isolation room should ensure ventilation, do not use air conditioning, regularly clean, limit furniture in the room. If possible, you should choose a room at the end of the row, at the end of the wind direction, far from crowded areas, with toilets, hand soap, clean water and trash cans with lids.

Persons in quarantine need:

- Comply with the self-isolation at the place of residence, place of residence at the prescribed time and commit to the local government

- Self-measurement of body temperature and daily self-monitoring of health. Record measurement results and general health status on the daily health monitoring sheet. Daily notification to commune health workers about the results of their temperature measurement and health status.

- Immediately notify the commune health worker assigned in charge of monitoring as soon as one of the suspected symptoms of the disease: fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing.

- Limit leaving private rooms, limit direct contact with family members, accommodation as well as other people.

- Do not leave the place of residence or place of residence during the isolation period.

- Practice personal hygiene measures, wear a mask, regularly wash your hands with soap and clean water or other antiseptic solutions. Do not share personal items: bowls, chopsticks, spoons, cups, toothbrushes, face towels...

- Collect used masks, towels, nose and mouth wipes into separate garbage bags for disposal according to regulations.

- Do not eat together, do not sleep with other people in the family, place of residence, place of residence

- Make sure to eat enough nutrients, drink enough water, move your body, do gentle exercise in place.

In addition, members of the household, place of residence, and place of residence need:

- Limit contact with isolated people, wear a mask and keep a distance of at least 2 meters when contact is needed.

- Wipe floors, tool surfaces, doorknobs in accommodation and living areas daily with common cleaning agents or disinfectant solutions.
